How to block GCash and Maya if your phone is stolen
Block GCash
- On a spare phone or a trusted friend's phone, open the GCash app. It has to be the app, because these steps don't work in a browser.
- On the login screen, tap Help Center.
- Under Quick Help, tap Lost SIM/Phone.
- Tap Chat with Gigi and follow the steps.
GCash says your account will be blocked within 4 hours, and that you'll get an email once it's done. If you can't use the app, call 2882 from Globe or TM, or (02) 7213-9999 from a Globe landline. From other networks, GCash's contact page offers Call via Internet: allow the microphone in your browser when asked, or the call won't start. GCash says lost or stolen phones get 24/7 support.
Get back to your GCash money
To keep your old number, get a replacement SIM from your network. To use a new number, register a new GCash account with it. Then, on your new phone, chat with Gigi again to unblock your account or ask to transfer your funds. GCash says it replies within 48 hours.
Block Maya
Call Maya on one of these numbers, and ask to block your account and card:
- +632 8845 7788
- 1800 1084 57788 (toll-free from a PLDT landline)
- *788 (free from Smart)
Maya's hours are 8 AM to 7 PM daily, and it says it takes after-hours calls for emergencies like a stolen phone.
Don't stop there
Your e-wallet is one part of it. If someone still has your SIM, they can receive your login codes, so block your SIM and your bank access too.
How FirstHour helps
Plan B keeps these steps ready in your first-hour plan if you tick GCash or Maya. Send it to someone you trust before anything happens, so they can help you dial and follow the steps. Some providers will only talk to the account holder. FirstHour never asks for your e-wallet password or codes, and it can't block your account for you.
Questions
How long does GCash take to block my account?
GCash says within 4 hours, and that it emails you once it's done.
Can I block GCash from a browser?
No. GCash says these steps won't work with Gigi in a browser such as Chrome or Safari, so use the app on another phone.
Should I keep a photo of my GCash details on my phone?
It's better not to. Pictures with private details go wherever your phone goes.
