- AES-256-GCM Vault
Your camera roll remembers what you forgot.
FirstHour finds the cards, IDs and codes in your pictures, locks your private things in an encrypted Vault, and keeps a plan ready for the first hour if your phone goes missing.
Nothing is deleted, moved or locked away unless you choose it.

Everything FirstHour does
One app for before anything happens, every day, and the first hour if it does.

How it works
- Let it see your picturesFirstHour checks every picture you allow, on your iPhone, and tells you how many it couldn't read.
- Decide what happensBlur, black out, lock away or delete. Nothing changes unless you choose it.
- Keep a plan readyTick your network and banks, add your phone's details, and send the plan to someone you trust.
Protect
Find the photos you forgot you took.
FirstHour looks for pictures of cards, IDs and codes on your iPhone, and keeps them blurred until you're ready.
It can miss things, like handwriting. "Nothing found" means nothing obvious, not "safe".

Vault
A quiet place, just for you.
Lock your private photos, videos, files and notes behind a pattern only you know, encrypted on your iPhone with AES-256-GCM.
- AES-256-GCM
- Secure Enclave
- No upload
Shield your screen when you draw it, and keep a backup: without one, losing your iPhone loses what's inside.
How it's protected More about the VaultThe Vault, in detail
What protects what's inside, and its limits.
| Lock | A pattern through 6 or more dots on a 5×5 grid, with at least one turn. Or a PIN instead. It's separate from your iPhone passcode. |
| Why pattern first | A well-chosen pattern can be much harder to guess than a 6-digit PIN. Someone watching you draw it could copy it, so shield your screen. |
| Encryption | AES-256-GCM, on every photo, video, file, note and small preview. |
| Key | Tied to your iPhone's security chip, the Secure Enclave, where it can be. |
| Wrong tries | The first 4 bring no wait. Then 1, 5, 15 and 60 minutes. Changing the clock doesn't skip it, and wrong tries never wipe your Vault. |
| Recovery | 12 words you wrote on paper, or a phrase of your own. |
| Backup | One encrypted file, saved where you choose. It isn't automatic. |
| Uploads | FirstHour never uploads what's in the Vault. A backup goes only where you save it. |
Plan B
If it ever happens, you'll know what to do.
See what someone could find on your phone, fix it, and keep a first-hour plan with who to call.
FirstHour can't lock your accounts. It tells you what to do and who to call.
More about Plan B
Why it's called FirstHour
If your phone goes missing, the first hour is when you block the SIM, call your bank and lock your accounts. FirstHour gets that ready before you need it.
Tidy up
A calmer camera roll.
Sort your pictures into groups like People, Receipts and Chats, and clear the clutter a little at a time.
It doesn't check videos or your Hidden album.
More about Tidy up
You're in control
Peace of mind only works if it's honest, so here's what FirstHour does, and what it can't do.
Never uploaded
Not the pictures, and not what's in them. There's no analytics code in the app.
Your decisions
Nothing is deleted, moved or locked away unless you choose it.
No passwords stored
FirstHour never asks for your account passwords or one-time codes.
It can't find everything
Handwriting, blurry or cropped pictures and unusual layouts can slip through.
It can't see inside other apps
It checks pictures in Photos, not your chats in Messenger or Viber.
It can't stop someone who knows your passcode
The app lock opens with your iPhone passcode. The Vault's pattern or PIN is the stronger lock.
Questions
Does FirstHour upload my pictures?
No. Your pictures and what's found in them stay on your iPhone. If you later turn on Theft Lock, FirstHour's server gets your iPhone's model, whether it's marked lost, when it last checked in and a record of security events. Details. With Recovery location, it also gets the last places it reported, how accurate they are, the times and a rough battery level. Never your pictures or your Vault.
Does it check everything on my phone?
It checks every picture you give it access to, and tells you how many it couldn't read. It doesn't check videos, pictures in your Hidden album, or what's inside other apps.
What happens to my Vault if I lose my phone?
The Vault stays on that iPhone unless you saved an encrypted backup. With a backup file and your recovery phrase, you can restore it on another iPhone. Without one, what's inside is gone.
Which countries does it work in?
FirstHour is being released for all countries and regions. The checks, Tidy up, the Vault and the Tips work wherever you are. Checked hotlines aren't built in for every country yet, and you can add your own numbers. See who to call, country by country.
What languages is it in?
FirstHour's screens come in 9 languages: English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese (Brazil), Japanese, Korean, Indonesian and Hindi. In any other language it shows in English for now. This website's main pages come in 32 languages, and other pages are in English for now.
When can I get it, and how much is it?
FirstHour isn't available yet. The launch date and price will be announced here.
