Help / Black out a picture

Black out a picture

Black out saves a copy of a picture with solid black boxes over the private details. Your original stays exactly as it is.

Step by step

  1. Open a picture in Protect and tap Black out. FirstHour covers the numbers, names and signatures it can find.
  2. Check the whole picture. Drag across it to add a box, or drag a box to move it. Tap a box to resize it, turn it or remove it.
  3. Use the extras if you need them. Cover all text covers everything it can read, and Compare shows you the original.
  4. Save it. Tap Save copy to Photos, or the share icon beside it to send it.

If FirstHour warns you

Before saving or sending, FirstHour reads the copy again. If it can still read a name or number, it tells you, and you can cover it too. You can also save anyway.

After saving

The copy has no location or camera details. If you don't need your original any more, delete it or move it to the Vault.
