iPhone stolen in Malaysia: who to call

Short answerFrom another phone or a computer, mark your iPhone as lost at icloud.com/find. Then block your SIM with your network, and call your bank. If you're in danger, call 999 first.

Take a breath, and ask someone to help if you can. We read each number below on an official page on 3 November 2026. Where it's a regulator's or government page rather than the company's own, the note says so. Numbers change, so if one doesn't work, use the official page beside it. Numbers that only work from your own network's phone won't help until you have a SIM again, so look for another way to reach them. Call costs vary.

First steps

  1. Mark your iPhone as lost at icloud.com/find. Here's the full plan.
  2. Block your SIM with your network, so nobody else can receive your login codes. Ask how to get your own codes or a replacement SIM.
  3. Call your banks and e-wallets, and ask them to protect your accounts.
  4. Report it to the police and ask about blocking the phone.

Use their official help page.
Maxis says to suspend your service at once, ask for the device to be blocked under PCBS, file a police report with the IMEI if a crime is involved, and lock the phone with Find My. A replacement SIM costs RM10 at a Maxis Store with your MyKad or passport. Only the registered owner can reactivate, within 90 days of the suspension.

CelcomDigi's page sends you to a 'call us' link and doesn't show a number, so we can't give one. Only the registered owner can ask, and CelcomDigi checks who you are first.

Report it to the police

If you are not in danger, report the theft at the nearest police station. The police FAQ says some non-emergency cases can be reported online through PDRM e-Reporting. Have your phone's IMEI ready: networks tell you to include it in a police report when a crime is involved. You can find it by dialling *#06# on a working phone, or on the box.

Block the phone

Malaysia has a national block for lost or stolen phones, the Public Cellular Blocking Service (PCBS), run with the regulator, MCMC. You don't ask MCMC yourself. You ask your own network, which sends the phone's IMEI so all networks can block it. Only the registered owner can ask, and your network will check who you are. CelcomDigi says a blocked phone can't make calls or use mobile data in Malaysia, but it can still use Wi-Fi and foreign networks. Find your IMEI before you need it: dial *#06# on your phone.

Use their official help page.
This is a press clipping on MCMC's site, dated 14 April 2016. It says owners report the loss to their network with the IMEI, and the network passes it to MCMC so every network can block the device. Registration on its BlockMyPhone portal is free. The page is old, so ask your network to confirm the steps.
