iPhone stolen in Italy: who to call

Short answerFrom another phone or a computer, mark your iPhone as lost at icloud.com/find. Then block your SIM with your network, and call your bank. If you're in danger, call 112 first.

Take a breath, and ask someone to help if you can. We read each number below on an official page on 3 November 2026. Where it's a regulator's or government page rather than the company's own, the note says so. Numbers change, so if one doesn't work, use the official page beside it. Numbers that only work from your own network's phone won't help until you have a SIM again, so look for another way to reach them. Call costs vary.

First steps

  1. Mark your iPhone as lost at icloud.com/find. Here's the full plan.
  2. Block your SIM with your network, so nobody else can receive your login codes. Ask how to get your own codes or a replacement SIM.
  3. Call your banks and e-wallets, and ask them to protect your accounts.
  4. Report it to the police and ask about blocking the phone.

Emergency numbers

WhoWhat to do
Single emergency numberCall for police or other urgent help
112
112 is the European single emergency number. Where the single response centres run, a central operator answers and passes the call to the Polizia di Stato, the Carabinieri or other services. A Polizia di Stato page dated 11 February 2026 says these centres cover 16 regions and 2 autonomous provinces, about 82% of the population, but it doesn't name them or say what happens elsewhere.

VodafoneSuspend your SIM, and get a replacement SIM. Block the phone with the form below.
190
Call customer service on 190 to suspend the SIM. The page does not say if 190 works from another network's phone, or its hours. For a replacement SIM that keeps your number, go to a Vodafone store with valid ID, and with the police report if you have one.

IliadBlock your SIM and the phone's IMEI
Use their official help page.
Iliad's form does not give a phone number. The account holder fills it in and sends it with a copy of their ID and tax code, either by post to Iliad Italia S.p.A., CP 14106, 20146 Milano, or through the Modulistica section of their online account. To block the SIM or the IMEI after a theft or loss, it also asks for a copy of the police report. It says the form cannot be handled without the signature, ID and police report.

Report it to the police

If you are in danger, call 112. Otherwise, report the theft to the police, because Iliad's form asks for a copy of the police report to block the phone, and banks may ask for one too. We could not open the national online reporting portal itself, so the two police notices below are what we could read. They show that online reporting is partly in use and still changing, so ask your local police station (questura) what they accept.

WhoWhat to do
Online report for a lost phone (Questura di Venezia)Report a lost phone online
Use their official help page.
A notice dated 22 June 2026 says lost phones, tablets and laptops can be reported on the Denunce Online portal without going to a police office. The registered report should appear in your account on the portal within 96 hours. This notice does not mention theft.

Online first report for theft (trial in Lazio)Start a theft report online
Use their official help page.
A notice dated 15 June 2026 says a theft can be reported online first as a pre-report, but you must confirm it in person at a Polizia di Stato office within 48 hours, and you can book that on the same platform. It is a trial limited to certain offices in Lazio, such as Rieti, Frosinone, Cassino, Fiuggi and Sora, so it is most likely not available where you are.

Block the phone

We did not find a national service in Italy that you can use yourself to block a stolen phone. Instead, you ask your own mobile network to block the phone's IMEI (its 15-digit serial number). Iliad's form needs a copy of the police report that shows the IMEI. We could not read what TIM and WindTre ask for, and the Vodafone page did not say whether the block reaches other networks. Blocking the SIM and blocking the phone are separate requests, so ask for both.

WhoWhat to do
Vodafone phone block formAsk Vodafone to block your phone by its IMEI
Use their official help page.
Fill in the online form if you have a Vodafone online account. If you don't, send the signed form with a copy of your ID by email to [email protected] or by registered post to Servizio Clienti Vodafone, casella postale 190, 10015 Ivrea (TO). You need the IMEI. If you don't know it, give the three numbers you call most, with your ID. Unblocking needs a new request.

Report fraud or identity theft

We did not find a single Italian service on an official page that cancels all your cards at once or freezes your credit. Call each bank or card company on the numbers below, and tell the police if someone has used your accounts.
