iPhone stolen in France: who to call

Short answerFrom another phone or a computer, mark your iPhone as lost at icloud.com/find. Then block your SIM with your network, and call your bank. If you're in danger, call 112 first.

Take a breath, and ask someone to help if you can. We read each number below on an official page on 2 November 2026. Where it's a regulator's or government page rather than the company's own, the note says so. Numbers change, so if one doesn't work, use the official page beside it. Numbers that only work from your own network's phone won't help until you have a SIM again, so look for another way to reach them. Call costs vary.

First steps

  1. Mark your iPhone as lost at icloud.com/find. Here's the full plan.
  2. Block your SIM with your network, so nobody else can receive your login codes. Ask how to get your own codes or a replacement SIM.
  3. Call your banks and e-wallets, and ask them to protect your accounts.
  4. Report it to the police and ask about blocking the phone.

Report it to the police

If it isn't an emergency, go to your local police station or gendarmerie and bring the phone's IMEI. Your complaint is what gets the phone itself blocked, so file it as soon as you can.

Block the phone

France blocks stolen phones through the police. First suspend your line with your network, which also has to give you the IMEI. Then file a complaint with that IMEI: the police send the request to your network, which must block the phone within 4 days. The block covers the phone itself, not only the SIM.

Use their official help page.
Suspend your line first: you can be billed for calls the thief makes before you report it. If you have insurance, contact your insurer within 48 hours or a few days at most. If the phone was only lost, you don't need a complaint to suspend the line.

Report fraud or identity theft

Block your bank cards first, then report any fraud. Be careful with phone numbers: scammers send texts and emails with fake card-blocking numbers, so never call a number from a message.
