iPhone stolen in Australia: who to call

Short answerFrom another phone or a computer, mark your iPhone as lost at icloud.com/find. Then block your SIM with your network, and call your bank. If you're in danger, call 000 first.

Take a breath, and ask someone to help if you can. We read each number below on an official page on 3 November 2026. Where it's a regulator's or government page rather than the company's own, the note says so. Numbers change, so if one doesn't work, use the official page beside it. Numbers that only work from your own network's phone won't help until you have a SIM again, so look for another way to reach them. Call costs vary.

First steps

  1. Mark your iPhone as lost at icloud.com/find. Here's the full plan.
  2. Block your SIM with your network, so nobody else can receive your login codes. Ask how to get your own codes or a replacement SIM.
  3. Call your banks and e-wallets, and ask them to protect your accounts.
  4. Report it to the police and ask about blocking the phone.

Apple PaySuspend your cards by marking the iPhone as lost
Use their official help page.
On any web browser, go to icloud.com/find and choose Mark As Lost. Apple says this locks the phone and suspends your Apple Pay cards, and you don't need a verification code. It only works if Find My was on before the phone went missing.

Use their official help page.
Go to google.com/android/find to lock or erase the phone. Erasing it removes your payment cards from the phone. The phone needs power and a connection for this to work.

Block the phone

Australia has a national scheme run by the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA). You ask your own provider, and the block then applies on all Australian networks. It is free, may take up to 72 hours to show, and doesn't track the phone or log you out of accounts. If the phone is lost overseas, Australian networks can't block it, though you can still ask your provider to suspend your service.

WhoWhat to do

Use their official help page.
AMTA can't block a phone for you. You need to contact your mobile provider.
